"We wanted to bring together classic pieces with modernity. When you think of classic pieces you think of boring and traditional fashion, while you associate modern clothes harsh and cool. We try and achieve tension between the two - and where there's tension there's energy and that's what fashion is all about." - Lanvin's menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver on the collection's theme.
One may ponder how Lanvin has managed to thrive for decades as being an incomparably defining veteran in French couture, but Sunday's menswear show in Paris easily answers any remotely daunting questions of fashion survival. With wool overcoats featuring hidden magnetic closures and wide trousers topped with slim tailoring, Lucas Ossendrijver's fall 2011 menswear collection cast a luxurious blanket of awe and beauty over spectators in Paris and fashion-lovers worldwide.
